To understand yourself and others, empathy is the magic that films possess and is the reason why I love movies so much.
It’s been a great year for film in 2015 and it just so happens that the most human stories of the year don’t star a single human. They are two of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year: Pete Docter & Ronnie Del Carmen’s Inside Out and Charlie Kaufman & Duke Johnson’s Anomalisa.
Whether it’s a 12-year old child coping with the tropes of growing up or a 40-year old man crippled by the mundanity of his life, these animated movies are more than just cartoons. These two films are cinematic landmarks, with universal themes making the audience ask themselves…’what makes us human?’
Watch Inside Out on DVD or ON DEMAND.
Anomalisa is currently playing in select theaters.
