What to watch FALL 2014- Maps to the Stars

Weird, twisted, funny, thrilling are just a few words that describe Hollywood. Those are also the words I’d use to describe the first look at acclaimed filmmaker, David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars. The trailer that I’ve posted showcases this bizarre film in the best way possible. I can’t help but compare the essence of this film to David Lynch’s masterpiece Mulholland Dr. But Maps, according to what I’ve seen in the trailer and a little of what I’ve read has an off-beat satirical humor about Hollywood and its system. The music in the beginning kind of sets that tone pretty nicely. Julianne Moore took home the Best Actress prize at Cannes for this movie and from just the trailer alone I can see why. She’s the heart and core of the film and looking at just a few scenes of her she may even be the ID to Cronenberg’s themes of psyche that he often places in his movies. The whole cast looks great, I love seeing John Cusack do basically anything. I can’t wait to see this movie and to discover another artist’s perspective on Hollywood.
